Badosa and Kudermetova will meet for the fifth time on the WTA circuit. In the four previous precedents, the Russian won her match in Indian Wells in 2019 (6-3 and 6-2), in the Abu Dhabi Tournament in 2021 (6-4, 4-6 and 6-1) and in the Charleston tournament that same year (double 6-3). However, in the last precedent between the two, at this year’s WTA 1,000 in Indian Wells, Badosa beat the Russian in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-2.
