South American Youth Games begin in Rosario, Argentina

The Bogotá Team has 47 athletes (27 men and 20 women) in the delegation that will take part in the Colombian South American Youth Games, which will begin this Thursday, April 28, in Rosario, Argentina.

Colombia will participate in Rosario 2022 with 197 athletes in the 26 sports. The Bogotá Team will contribute 47 athletes to the delegation (27 men and 20 women), that is, 23.85% of the total number of athletesin these 20 disciplines: archery, athletics, basketball, handball, boxing, cycling, fencing, soccer, gymnastics, judo, karate, wrestling, swimming, roller skating, skateboarding, rugby, field tennis, table tennis, triathlon and Beach volleyball.

What are the South American Youth Games?

The South American Youth Games are an event for athletes between 14 and 18 years old organized by Odesur (South American Sports Organization), they were created in 2012, to be played one year before the Youth Olympic Games. The first edition was held in Lima, Peru, in 2013, and the winner was Brazil; the second edition was held in Santiago de Chile in 2017 and again Brazil was victorious.

The third edition will be in Rosario, province of Santa Fe, Argentina, with the participation of 2,500 athletes from 15 countries, who will compete in 26 sports. The Parque Independencia, now called Parque Único Suramericanowill host all disciplines: athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, cycling, beach handball, boxing, climbing, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, hockey 5, judo, karate, weightlifting, Olympic wrestling, swimming, figure skating, speed skating, rugby sevens, skateboarding, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon and beach volleyball.
