SBK, Aragon: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Welcome back Superbike! It would seem like this to be said after the long winter with which enthusiasts, pilots and professionals have been forced to deal. The Motorland weekend staged hot duels, where no one was certainly bored.

Bautista and Baldassarri experienced a sort of redemption operation and with them Nicolò Bulega too, celebrating his first podium in SSP with the Ducati V2. There are those who seem to have ended up in a nightmare and it is the case of Scott Redding, whose weekend is to be forgotten.

THE BEAUTIFUL Alvaro Bautista it’s like wine: the older it gets, the better it gets. A return to frame that of the Spaniard on the Ducati. First the second place, then the double on Sunday that gives him the top of the World Championship. Lorenzo Baldassarri and Nicolò Bulega also celebrate with him. B.ello to finally see them happy after the difficulties suffered in Moto2 in recent seasons.

THE UGLY – Aragon was a Yamaha weekend in SSP, so much so that Aegerter and Baldassarri shared the place up for grabs. On the other hand, one of the veterans of the category was missing, that is Jules Cluzel. An anonymous performance that of the Frenchman, in the shade and far from the best.

THE BAD – On paper, Motorland was certainly not one of the Allied tracks. In the end, the conditions were met. In Aragon Toprak Razgatlioglu fought all weekend with his Yamaha R1, having to settle rather than attack as we usually are used to seeing him do. Let’s hope the music is very different in two weeks at the TT.

CONFIRMATION – Toprak weekend balance sheet: third Saturday, third Sunday morning and third Sunday afternoon. More confirmation than that!

THE DELUSION – Worse than that it was really hard to do. We don’t want to know what went on in Scott Redding’s mind at the end of the Aragon round. The fact is that the debut with the BMW is a nightmare for the 45, so much so that it turns out to be the worst among the standard-bearers of the House of Monaco. In three races Scott has collected no less than one point!

THE ERROR – There are races that end in a crash, while others end with some technical problem. And there are races that sometimes don’t even start. The Greek knows something about it Ioannis Peristeras, SSP300 pilot, showed up in Aragon with a non-approved helmet. THEhis weekend ended before it even started.

THE SURPRISE – He showed up at Motorland with two days of testing in Barcelona and the same number between Monday and Tuesday. Raise your hand on who you would have bet to call Mychalchyk best BMW driver on Saturday? The Ukrainian went beyond all expectations.

OVERTAKING – With all the overtaking there has been it is really difficult to choose one! For the occasion, we reward Toprak’s super maneuver on Rinaldi on the last lap of the Superpole Race. When it comes to entertainment, the Turk never backs down.

THE CURIOSITY’ – Sunday afternoon in Aragon was the 100th race of Alvaro Bautista in SBK. A special milestone, celebrated in the best way, that is with the victory.

I TOLD YOU SO – “The goal is to win at Aragon and Assen “. So Toprak told us in an interview with Motorland on Thursday. One has faded, we are convinced he will try again in Holland.
