Roman Abramovich would buy another team in Europe: Göztepe SK from Turkey in exchange for Chelsea | Other Soccer Leagues

English football took Roman Abramovich out of the Premier League, since all those who have to do with Russia have suffered sanctions due to the war and the invasion of Ukraine.

That is why the Russian tycoon was forced to sell Chelsea and not return, for now, to London. However, he does not give up on continuing in European football, and that is why he plans to buy a team to start from scratch.

According to the Turkish press, the Russian oligarch has everything ready to be the owner of Göztepe SK, which plays in the Turkish Super League, as the First Division championship is known.

The Turkish government did not adopt sanctions against the Russians, so Abramovich is free to negotiate with the modest team to buy a large percentage of their shares.

According to Fanatik, a juicy offer from Abramovich to Mehmet Sepil, Göztepe’s largest shareholder, would have already been accepted and would be made official in the coming days.

However, the Russian would join a team completely opposite to Chelsea, because instead of fighting for local titles and being in force in continental competitions, the Turkish team is fighting this season not to be relegated.

Göztepe is in 18th place in the Turkish Super League, with 27 points. In 31 games they have won 7, tied six and lost 18 games. Thus it is the penultimate team in the standings and is, today, one of the four teams at risk of relegation.
