Poitiers ready for the meeting

Labeled “Terre de Jeux 2024”, Greater Poitiers also has equipment labeled Games Preparation Centers (CPJ).

For more than two years now, Greater Poitiers has been in the starting blocks for Paris 2024. Labeled “Terre de Jeux 2024”, the community has the necessary assets to play a role as the planetary rendezvous approaching capital city. Thus, since July 15, 2021, several Grand Poitiers facilities have been included in the official catalog of the Games Preparation Centers (CPJ). This catalog is intended for the 206 National Olympic Committees and the 182 National Paralympic Committees.

The Urban Community has five sports facilities likely to host international sports delegations for the JOP 2024: the Jean-Pierre Garnier sports hall, the Paul Rébeilleau stadium, the Michel Amand sports complex, the Lawson Body hall and the Ganterie swimming pool. In addition to this equipment, there are other structures within the Vienne department such as the CREPS in Poitiers or the Futuroscope Arena. With a view to 2024, a territorial dynamic is thus underway.

Poitiers suitable for many disciplines

Greater Poitiers could soon welcome many French and international delegations in its various facilities. Currently, the Urban Community is labeled CPJ for eleven Olympic disciplines (Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Judo, Taekwondo, Fencing, Swimming, Athletics, Triathlon, Road Cycling and 3×3 Basketball) and eight Paralympic disciplines (Chair Basketball, Paralympic Swimming , Paralympic Athletics, Paralympic Triathlon, Paralympic Road Cycling, Paralympic Judo, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Fencing).

Anita Blaze, Olympic vice-champion in fencing, is one of the athletes who have already visited the facilities of Greater Poitiers. ” During the courses that we do in preparation for our various competitions, we have to be in our bubble. Let anything that doesn’t relate to our workouts not be a concern.”assures the fencer, whose testimony is invaluable for Greater Poitiers, in order to prepare for this Olympic and Paralympic deadline in the best possible way.
