Nijhuis does not whistle once and receives a large amount for Vitesse-Sparta: ‘A lot, huh’

Bas Nijhuis has about 2400 euros left over from the flash match between Vitesse and Sparta. This is confirmed by the referee at Today Inside.

Nijhuis drove for exactly six minutes and fourteen seconds to Arnhem on Tuesday, where Vitesse and Sparta had to play out their abandoned match. “It was very special,” he says. “Beugelsdijk came to me after three minutes. How long, he asked. Yeah, unbelievable, it was really, really weird.”

Nothing happened in those six minutes. “I also expected more. Balls that are pumped in, tackles … but nothing at all,” said Nijhuis, who whistled twice: for the beginning and for the end.

Today Inside presenter Wilfred Genee points out to Nijhuis that he has earned 400 euros per minute. “Something like that, yes. A lot, isn’t it”, Nijhuis laughs. “A number of colleagues also texted me immediately when I received this match. Just put above the video: Nijhuis is the best paid referee in the Netherlands.”
