Napoli makes six (!) against Sassuolo, Dries Mertens important again with two hits

Napoli have once again shown their best side. Against mid-engine Sassuolo it scored no less than six times. Red Devil Dries Mertens once again proved important for his club with two goals. Napoli is thus putting the pressure on leader Milan and number two Inter.

After the defeat to Empoli, it seemed a crisis in Naples. President De Laurentiis was in all states and sent his player core into seclusion. The Neapolitan fans also showed their displeasure. And whether that had an effect. Napoli did not want to be surprised again against mid-engine Sassuolo and shot scorching from the starting blocks. Already after 21 minutes there was a 4-0 score on the scoreboard. Mertens scored the fourth goal himself. The Red Devil cut in and outwitted clever goalkeeper Consigli.

Even after the break, Napoli continued on that momentum. Dries Mertens was noticed several times and made his second of the afternoon. The Red Devil set up the combination himself and remained icy calm for Consigli. Napoli then pushed the score even further. After 90 minutes there was a clear 6-1 final score on the board.

Thanks to the three points, Napoli keeps a water chance at the title in Italy. With three more days on the program, it comes to four points from leader AC Milan. Milan and Inter will still be in action this matchday.
