MLB announced the launch of Home Run Derby X

MLB announced the launch of Home Run Derby X, an electrifying new baseball format.

Derby X will travel on a global tour of London, Seoul and Mexico City in 2022.

– July 9 – Crystal Palace Park, LONDON.
– September 17 – Announcement coming soon, SEOUL.
– October 15 – Announcement coming soon, MEXICO CITY.

Inspired by the success and simplicity of the MLB All-Star Home Run Derby, Home Run Derby X has been developed with the goal of bringing new audiences to baseball; creating a live event full of energy, experiences and opportunities to tell stories digitally.

Fans will see former All-Star and World Series champion hitters show off their power, including Jonny Gomes, Adrian Gonzalez, Geovany Soto and Nick Swisher.

Home Run Derby X is played on a scaled-down version of a baseball field, with Home Plate set up on a stage and the pitcher’s mound on a podium. The playfield is adaptable and has been designed to fit into a variety of environments, from stadiums to festival sites.

The competing teams will represent 4 iconic Major League Baseball clubs; Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.

The teams will be made up of MLB Legends, Superstars, Rookies and Wild Cards. The MLB Legends are former MLB players and will be the team’s star hitters. The Superstars are the best talent in Women’s Baseball and Softball.

The Rookies are the best young prospects in baseball and will be announced as part of the build for each event.

The Wild Cards are high profile influencers and content creators, challenged to a great challenge, they will participate in an intensive training program transforming them from amateurs to heavy hitters.

While epic home runs and catches will steal the show, Home Run Derby X will offer much more than just big hits. Each event will feature live music, baseball-inspired activations, in-arena food, fashion and more to take it to the next level and offer our fans an unforgettable experience.
