Letsch had a bizarre idea at Vitesse: “I have considered playing without a keeper”

Vitesse coach Thomas Letsch has briefly thought about not setting up a goalkeeper against Sparta Rotterdam. On Tuesday evening, the remaining six minutes of Vitesse-Sparta are on the program and the Arnhem team have to make up for a 0-1 deficit.

The duel between Sparta and Vitesse was discontinued more than a month ago due to irregularities. The game should be played on Tuesday. “Six minutes of playing time is very interesting,” says Letsch, who is quoted by the Gelderlander. “It is also new for all of us. We have now developed a battle plan. I considered playing without a goalkeeper for a while, but we are not going to do that. That is not a serious option. We are betting on the win. We will transfer all of Europe as we beat Sparta in six minutes.”

Letsch does not understand that the KNVB has chosen to only finish the last minutes of the game. “In my opinion, the football association should have let the entire match be replayed. Sparta decided not to go on the field on March 4. But the referee considered safety guaranteed. The stadium was empty. There was no reason at all to cancel everything. .”

The Vitesse trainer can make two more changes on Tuesday evening, after his three substitutions in the earlier part of the match. “I won’t switch in those six minutes. I’ll do that before we start.”
