In Düsseldorf, 174 young women participants under the age of 16 met for the 18th edition of the international tournament with participants from Switzerland, Poland, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, among others, and fought for medals and placements. Katharina Keltjens faced a total of 36 participants in the weight class up to 48 kilograms. After four victories with different techniques, which she was able to show on the floor and standing against strong opponents from Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Belgium, it was time for her to reach the semi-finals. And so the fight for the coveted medals entered the decisive phase. In a semi-final against Kaiser from North Rhine-Westphalia, which was balanced for a long time, none of the athletes was able to prevail within the normal fighting time, and the fight went into overtime (golden score). Here Katharina was able to show that she had a stronger physique, she took control of the fight with a superior grip and was able to assert herself with a foot throw, which brought her victory and thus the final. In the final against Urban, also from North Rhine-Westphalia, Katharina had to admit defeat to her opponent after a balanced stand-up fight with a turning technique followed by a hold on the ground. In the end, this meant a great second place for her, which she had earned against strong opponents. Her trainer Nadine Müller was correspondingly satisfied with the success.

At the same time, the international screening tournament for male youth under the age of 16 took place in Duisburg. A total of 258 judoka from the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Latvia, the Ukraine and 16 national associations of the DJB were at the start. Andreas Tölzer, national coach of the U21 men, visited the tournament and took a close look at the performance of the youngsters.

This continued in the consolation round. Florian was able to secure victory in the first fight of the consolation round with a deep shoulder throw, for which he received half a point (Wazari), which he was able to defend for the entire duration of the fight.

In the fight for entry into the small final (fight for third place), he was countered by Bürger (Bayern) after his own attack and had to admit defeat at the end of the fight. That meant seventh place for him in his weight class.
