Juventus President Agnelli faces long suspension

WBecause of their involvement in a football financial scandal in Italy, the bosses of Juventus Turin, SSC Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur in England are threatened with long bans. At the start of the proceedings before the sports court of the Italian association FIGC, the prosecution on Tuesday demanded a 12-month suspension for Juventus club boss Andrea Agnelli and more than 16 months for the former manager of the record champions, Fabio Paratici. He has been sporting director of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League since summer 2021.

The two and 59 other football officials are said to have falsified the financial reports of eleven clubs involved – including five from Serie A – in recent years. According to the indictment, they rated some of their players much better and thus booked significantly higher capital gains and benefit claims than was permissible.

In addition to the two managers of Juventus Turin, Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of SSC Napoli, is also accused. A ban of a good eleven months was demanded for the film producer.
