Jan Boskamp has responded for the first time to the commotion surrounding Today Inside. The regular dinner guest does not believe anything of an alleged rape by Johan Derksen in his younger years. On Tuesday, Derksen said he had penetrated an unconscious woman with a candle; On Wednesday he announced that there was no question of penetration. The plug was officially pulled from the program on Friday, although Boskamp still sees an opening for a new show.

In Coffee with Boskamp On the YouTube channel of Today Inside, Boskamp indicates that Derksen has said ‘ten times’ that he will stop. “I did not see the broadcast myself, because I did the Champions League analysis. But the newspapers in Belgium are also completely full of it,” Boskamp responds. He has received the statements. “I can’t say it, but I still had to smile. Because what he said, he certainly didn’t do it. I heard that he toned it down a bit, but I’ve known him for so long: he really didn’t do it.”

“I have no idea why he said it. It is such a nice program, but there such a shitty comment, the program sucks,” said Boskamp, who emphasizes that Derksen has flown out of the corner. “Johan is a world guy, but he shouldn’t have done that. I don’t believe he did. You can’t say things like this anymore, I still don’t know why he said it. I don’t believe any I really mean that. I know him way too well: he didn’t do it. Never. But the most important thing was that they laughed so much.”

The former midfielder has been one of the regular guests at Voetbal Inside and the successors of that program since 2010. He regrets that the program has been discontinued. “It’s a shame, because there was no program like Today Inside.” According to Boskamp, however, it is not certain that Derksen will leave the media world. “Johan is a special case. I still doubt it, because the TV is his life. I felt that when I was there.”
