On April 21, according to foreign media reports, Indonesian badminton men’s doubles veteran Handdra pointed out that he and his partner Ah Shan are ready to play in the Thomas Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 8 to 15, which is also Indonesia’s Uber Cup. Women’s doubles player Rani, a member of the women’s team, also pointed out that the morale of the team is getting higher and higher.
The two players made the above remarks at the farewell ceremony of the Bangkok Tongyu Cup and the Hanoi SEA Games held by the Indonesian Badminton Association yesterday.
“Through this farewell ceremony, we certainly feel more and more fighting spirit and are ready to start the fight in Bangkok later. Hopefully it will turn out well,” Hendra said.
Rani also revealed: “Yes, we have also become more effective because we have received strong support from the president and the Indonesian Badminton Association. We will continue to prepare.”
In his speech at the ceremony, Indonesian Badminton President Agung Fehrman hoped that the Indonesian team could achieve the defending Soup Cup champion, while the Uber Cup team would not have to carry heavy burdens and play to their potential as much as possible.
“When my teammates fight on the court afterwards, I ask the players to continue to maintain unity and cohesion. A solid team will be the key to our success in team competitions such as the Tongyou Cup and the SEA Games.”
In the 2021 Thomas Cup, the Indonesian team defeated the Chinese team 3-0 in the final, winning the Thomas Cup again after 19 years.
