Dooling, who was the first vice president of the players’ association, was on the list of 18 former NBA players involved in the scams. A number of doctors and dentists are also involved in the fraud scheme.
Jazz said Duling revealed the unit had been added to the list of defendants on Wednesday, after which the team put him on paid administrative leave.
“This case affects his career in the NBA players’ association before joining our organization. Due to the opening of the investigation process, we will not comment on this situation,” the Jazz said in a statement.
Duling was arrested in Utah on Wednesday. Between 2017 and 2020, about five million US dollars (about 4.7 million euros) were scammed, of which about 350 thousand US dollars (about 332 thousand euros) fell directly into Duffing’s hands.
Dulings joined the Jazz coaching team in 2020.
The Utah unit is currently running the first round of the NBA playoffs, which features the David Morticks of Davis Bertan. In a series of up to four victories, the 3-2 lead is the Dallas unit.
