The rumor persists that Robert Lewandowski is about to move to Barca. However, the Catalans deny an agreement with Poland.
FC Barcelona’s sporting director Mateu Alemany has commented on speculation about a move from Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski to Barca ahead of the Europa League game against Eintracht Frankfurt. “We have no agreement with Lewandowski. These are press speculations that are very good for filling pages,” Alemany explained in an interview before the kick-off against Frankfurt and added: “That’s not true. If we wanted him, we would talk to his club first.”
Alemany did not rule out a change from Lewandowski, even if FC Bayern, in the person of Oliver Kahn Munich, confirmed its position that it did not want to sell the striker in the summer.
FC Bayern: Lewandowski should stay
Munich’s CEO said before the game against FC Villarreal on Tuesday Amazon Prime: “We’re not crazy and are now discussing the transfer of a player who scores between 30 and 40 goals for us every season. We’ll definitely have Robert with us for another season. We know what we have in him and we’re waiting completely relaxed.”
Reports from Poland, for example, that Lewandowski had already reached an agreement with Barcelona or that Barca could possibly pull the so-called Webster clause in the FIFA regulations and Lewandowski could release him from his contract with Bayern after this season, Kahn relegated to the realm of fables. “Apparently there’s a competition out there: Who will tell the biggest nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski? Whereabouts Lewandowski: Nagelsmann is confident
When asked whether Lewandowski would continue to be in Munich beyond 2023, he said: “We have always said that we will start talks. As soon as there is something to report, we will do so.”
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann was also confident that Lewandowski would stay in Munich. When asked if he felt Lewandowski wanted to stay, Nagelsmann simply said: “Yes”.
The rumor mill about Lewandowski is bubbling because the Pole has not yet extended his contract with FC Bayern, which expires in 2023.
