Europa League: Aluminum and own goal save RB Leipzig against Atalanta Bergamo – Bundesliga

That was really stupid!

Despite a poor performance, Leipzig saved a draw in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. RB plays 1-1 against Atalanta Bergamo in their own stadium.

The Italians are the tough nut to crack, having already knocked out Leverkusen in the round of 16.

And Leipzig cannot stop Bergamos Muriel (scored twice against Bayer). The Colombian circles the ball skillfully into the far corner (17). Early lag, almost the early reply. Silva hits the post seven minutes later.

A penalty (56) brings Leipzig back into play in the second half. Nkunku is hit lightly in the foot. But Silva misses the mega chance. It is the third missed penalty in Europe this season for the Portuguese. The equalizer comes a few seconds later with an own goal from Zappacosta (58).

Atalanta continues to push forward but, like in the first half, only hits the post. Lucky Leipzig!

A little later Szoboszlai hits the crossbar. This time the Italians are in luck! In added time, Atalanta saves Mukiele’s shot on the line. So it remains a draw.

The second leg will take place in Bergamo next Thursday.
