De Klerk and De Jager will leave Sale at the end of the season

Scrum half Faf de Klerk and second line Lood de Jager, both crowned world champions with South Africa in 2019, will leave Sale at the end of the season, the English club announced on Tuesday without specifying their future destination. “The whole Sale Sharks team would like to thank Faf and Lood for their enormous contribution to the club (…) and wish them the best for the future“Wrote the club in a press release.

Arriving in Sale in 2017, De Klerk (30) played 95 matches with the English team, scoring 241 points including fourteen tries. De Jager (29), who joined England after the 2019 World Cup, played 25 games with the club for three scored tries.

The two South African players had contributed to the very good 2020-2021 season for the Sharks, ranked third at the end of the regular season in the English championship and qualified for the first time for the final phase in fifteen years. Sale is currently in sixth place in the standings with four games remaining in the regular season.
