Commentary on the BG victory: The team is the star

Collective relief after the home win against Frankfurt. After four defeats, the BG showed that they can still win, even if they struggled a bit against the tail light in the end. After all, success counts – and also the realization of how the team, who often appeared insecure in previous games, presented themselves. The players’ body language was right, communication with each other seemed to be improved and there was also interaction with the fans. It was again and again Akeem Vargas and Harper Kamp who sought the connection with the violet appendage with gestures towards the “purple wall”.

And yes, after a sovereign first half, the BG had problems in the second half, lived on the lead they had played out – and on one player: Newcomer Jeremiah Martin scored 22 of his 24 points after the half-time break. It is not at all reprehensible that a single player gets the coals out of the fire. After the injured Kamar Baldwin it was now the post-signed Martin. In Oldenburg, Bonn or Bamberg there are the Heideggers, Jackson-Cartwrights or Sengfelders. But they all need a functioning team around them. That’s exactly what BG head coach Roel Moors then pointed out: the success of the team and not that of an individual player.
