FIFA did not wait very long to react. While Corriere dello Sport announced on Wednesday that the international body was considering extending the duration of matches to 100 minutes at the next World Cup in Qatar (see here), this rumor has been firmly denied.
“Following certain articles and rumors circulating today, FIFA would like to clarify that there will be no changes to the rules regarding the duration of football matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 or any other competition.” , assured the instance in a press release.
