Rough end of the day for the French at the European Badminton Championships. In Madrid, the end of the quarter-finals offered only defeats to the tricolor clan which had started so well on Thursday.
While Toma Junior Popov (in men’s singles) and the pair Delphine Delrue – Thom Gicquel (in mixed) had secured a medal, the last representatives lost at the gates of the semi-finals.
In singles, Brice Leverdez lost to the Israeli Misha Zilberman (18-21, 15-21), like Thomas Rouxel, who however faced world number 1 Viktor Axelsen (16-21, 14-21).

The other three pairs of doubles also experienced failure: Toma Junior and Christo Popov (DH), Fabien Delrue and William Villeger (DH) as well as Margot Lambert and Anne Tran (DD).
In the semi-finals on Friday, Toma Junior Popov will face Dane Anders Antonsen, seeded n°2. In mixed, the Delrue-Gicquel duo will be opposed to the Dutch Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek.
