Bizarre stunt goes wrong: it is not possible to exchange an airplane at 4000 meters

Stuntmen, paratroopers and cousins Luke Aikins and Andy Farrington attempted the Red Bull stunt in an unknown location in the vast state of Arizona.

Switch planes without a pilot

The intention was that the two men, who were both alone in a plane, jump from their plane at an altitude of 4000 meters and switch aircraft.

Only one of them succeeded, as can be seen in these bizarre images:

Aikins managed to jump out of his plane and into his cousin Farrington’s. It is not clear exactly what went wrong, but the device that Aikins was originally in went into a spiral. Farrington failed to get close to the aircraft.

‘Disappointment’

The stuntman was able to use his parachute and landed safely. “I didn’t have a chance to reach the plane,” Farrington said. “I’m glad everyone is here, but it’s still a disappointment.”

Red Bull has not disclosed what happened to the plane. The aircraft was equipped with a special braking system to be able to fly slower in ‘free fall’ and to perform the stunt in this way.
