Jannik Sinner reached the second round at the ATP Masters in Monte Carlo after a real effort. Now the 20-year-old Pusterer has to deal with an old acquaintance.

In the round of the last 32, Sinner (ATP 12) meets Emil Ruusuvuori (ATP 81). The 23-year-old Finn clearly knocked out the German qualifier Oscar Otte (ATP 72) 6: 4 and 6: 3 on Tuesday. In the Principality, Sinner and Ruusuvuori meet for the 5th time on Wednesday.

The previous 4 encounters have all taken place on hard courts, with the record of 3:1 victories being relatively clear for Sinner. Only at the end of March did the South Tyrolean and the Scandinavian play against each other at the Masters in Miami. At that time, Sinner narrowly prevailed after 2:42 hours.

Well, almost 3 weeks later there is the next duel between the two. For the first time, however, this will take place on sand. If he progressed, Sinner would meet the winner of the game between Australian Alex de Minaur (ATP 25) and Russian Andrey Rublev (ATP 8) in the round of 16.
