Akronos fight to the end but the two points go to Broni

Forty exciting minutes that maybe we will see again in the coming weeks. A lot of defense, a lot of physicality and even a few too many mistakes dictated by the frenzy. In the end, the last minute absence of Lea Miletic.

Akronos Libertas Moncalieri starts the game with Vanloo, Reggiani, Land, Cordola e Ruzickova. The hosts take the field instead with Bestagno, Galbiati, Dedic, Westerik e Bona. Broni’s defensive scheme is clear from the start: anyone but Vanlooeven more so with coach Terzolo without Miletic for an ankle problem remedied yesterday evening in training.
And for a good 9 minutes the match plan works smoothly. First quarter in fact very tight, like the rest of the game, with Akronos that with only 6 points scored by the starting five (4 of which signed Vanloo with a 3 + 1 close to the siren) still manages to close the partial in advantage of 3 points (on 16 to 13) thanks to a Sara Toffolo perfect from the field and to the positive impact of Giacomelli e Jakpa.
Maya Ruzickova opens the second quarter with 6 points in a row for the Lunette, while on the other side they respond Dedic e Bona. Think about it Arianna Landi on an assist from Vanloo to place the triple of +6 on 25 to 19 at the fourth mark. After a mini partial by the hosts, Jakpa is again to bring the Akronos back to +4 with an approaching basket, soon imitated by Ilenia Cordola from the painted.
Thanks to Bestagno e Dedic Costruzioni Italia Broni gets closer up to -1 which closes the first half (29 to 28 in favor of Akronos).

In the third quarter it is a continuous pull and spring up to the bomb of overtaking Dedic on 36 to 35. With a very difficult triple in dribbling, arrest and shooting well over the arc Vanloo to bring Moncalieri back in the lead once again. In the final Broni finds confidence thanks to the zone defense and with two baskets in a row of Smith e Westerik closes the fourth at 46 to 40. The last ten minutes open with a partial of 6 to 1 in favor of Pavia, forcing coach Terzolo to timeout after just over 2 minutes.
Gialloblù answer entrusted to Giacomelli e Katshitshi which bring Moncalieri back to -5 with 3 ‘from the end. The axis Vanloo-Toffolo he shortens again to 52-57 after a two out of two signed Broni’s foul line Bona. In the final Broni proves to be able to manage the advantage and thus conquers two fundamental points. The deficit in free throws weighs heavily for Akronos (16 out of 24 for Broni, 8 out of 9 for Moncalieri).

At the moment Sassari and Faenza are on equal points (16), but the goal difference in the head-to-head matches rewards the Sardinians (+1). Akronos should therefore face Dinamo, while Broni should face Faenza. But as we learned this year: never say never.
