Young people get a pass to Nationals 2022 there will be Caribbean representation in Badminton

CANCUN.- Quintana Roo will have representation at the Conade 2022 Nationals in the discipline of Badminton, after 4 athletes achieved their pass during the Qualifying Tournament that took place in Aguascalientes.

The badminton players from Quintana Roo who qualified were Diego Castro in singles and doubles in the U-17 category, Maximiliano Barreto in doubles in the U-17 category, Isabel Meling U-15 and Patricio Meling U-15 in mixed doubles.

Coach Alejandro Orozco pointed out that “to achieve the pass in singles, the athletes sought to be among the 17 best in the country while in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, the goal was to be among the first 12 to qualify, this event being one of the most demanding at the national level.

In the competition, Diego Castro got his direct pass by beating the Michoacán team with a score of 21-18 and 21-19.

In men’s doubles, Castro and Maximiliano Barreto got their pass, beating the hosts in three fierce sets.

In the Sub 15 category, the twins Patricio and Isabel Meling, got their pass in mixed doubles, by going back to the representative team of Mexico City.

The Quintana Roo representative of Badminton will be preparing for the Conade 2022 that will take place in Tijuana, Baja California next May.
