Ukraine war: Novak Djokovic offers help to Ukrainian tennis star – sport mix

Strong gesture from Novak Djokovic (34)!

The tennis star wants to help the threatened locals in the wake of the Ukraine war. The Serb contacted the Ukrainian tennis player Serhij Stachowskyj (36) to offer his support.

Stachowskyj, who shared the WhatsApp chat between the two tennis players on Instagram, reported to his country’s reserve army after the Ukraine invasion and is currently stationed in Kyiv.

In order to defend Ukraine, Stachowskyj had to leave his wife and children in Hungary, his adopted country, at short notice. He then called on the sport’s top stars, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Djokovic, to help Ukraine.

At least Djokovic has now gotten in touch while he would have received no response from Nadal and Federer.

In the chat, the 20-time Grand Slam champion writes: “Stako, how are you? are you on duty Thinking of you…hope everything settles down soon. Please let me know where is the best place to send financial and other help.”

Under the Insta-Post, Stachowskyj thanked Djokovic: “Novak, thank you for your support. Ukraine is grateful to you.”
