The Bulls have little chance of shining in the playoffs, here’s why

Even if they remain on an ugly series of 5 consecutive defeats, the Chicago Bulls are one of the most pleasant teams to follow this season. Their return to the good part of the standings in the Eastern Conference necessarily makes fans want to believe in a successful playoff campaign. Why not even imagine DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic and their teammates create a surprise in a fairly open Conference where even reigning NBA champion Milwaukee is not sovereign?

Unfortunately for Chicago, a huge gap makes the quest for a title or even a Finals appearance very unrealistic. To hope to go that far, you have to beat the best teams in the league at some point. However, since the start of the season, the Bulls have had great difficulty facing the top ranked teams.

To date, Billy Donovan’s group has posted 14 defeats and… 0 wins, against the three best-ranked teams in each conference!

Chicago still hasn’t beaten Miami (0-3), Philadelphia (0-4) and Milwaukee (0-2) in the East, and is still waiting to bring down Phoenix (0-1), Memphis (0-2 ) and Golden State (0-2) in the West.

It’s obviously not mathematical and nothing prevents the Bulls from being much more bloody and threatening against the “big guys” once the post-season comes, but it’s still a slightly worrying factor. At the moment, the Illinois franchise is 4th in the East, but under threat from Boston and Cleveland.
