In the fight between the two ladies’ handball clubs of Pieriga, on Thursday evening in Salaspils, the team of the local sports school beat the handball club of Stopiņi parish.
The housewives took the lead at the start of the game and soon one scored five goals (9: 4) – after the first half at 20:14. After the break, the handball players broke the difference to “minus four”, but the Salaspils team regained the initiative and in the middle of the second half reached even nine goals (29:20). In the last ten minutes, the guests started playing, but it was too late – 33:30 in favor of Salaspils Sports School.
The winners Anastasija Agarkova scored 11, Renāte Salmane eight and Dace Potapova seven, Lauri Lielā and Nine Elita Ekkerte with 12 accurate throws in Stopiņi PHK.
In the table of the Premier League tournament, Salaspils handball players with eight victories in ten games and 16 points are the leaders, but Stopiņi PHK has only one victory in eight matches and the penultimate seventh position.
Salaspils handball players also succeeded, beating Skrivera and Aizkraukle team “S&A” in their field with 29:23. The decisive events took place at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second, when the hosts reached 19:15 from 14:14. Kaspars Luksis threw seven, Kristiāns Strautnieks, Krists Vidzis and Rainers Gailums five for the benefit of Salaspils.
In the first two games of the Group B tournament of the second stage of the Premier League championship, the leading positions are shared by the handball players of Salaspils and Ulbroka Sports Club. In the tournament, six units compete for the only ticket to the elimination tournament.
