Sixteen-year-old talent signs first professional contract with Feyenoord: ‘Leader on the field’

Sam Ringeling has signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord. The sixteen-year-old central defender, who plays in the Under 16 team of the Rotterdam team, is now stuck in De Kuip until mid-2025.

Ringeling, born in Leiden, has been playing in Feyenoord’s youth academy since the summer of 2019 and now plays in the Under 16 team of trainers Brian Pinas and Robin van Persie. He is making excellent progress in this, says head of youth education Rini Coolen. “In recent years, he has made great strides in his role as leader on the field and he has the right winning mentality,” the club’s website said.

The sixteen-year-old defender, who signed his contract under the watchful eye of his father, mother and sister, spoke of a ‘brilliant moment’. “I have been looking forward to this for a long time. Feyenoord has been my club since childhood and I am very proud that I was able to sign my first professional contract here.”
