SC Freiburg – VfL Wolfsburg 3: 2! SC wins with Schlotterbeck’s comeback – Bundesliga

Hot, hotter, Christian Streich (56)!

The Freiburg coach provided the scene of the day in the 3-2 win over Wolfsburg with an outburst of celebration that even Jürgen Klopp couldn’t have done better. New national player Nico Schlotterbeck (22) bagged the victory very late.

Man of the first half: Freiburg’s Vincenco Grifo (28)! The Italian almost European champion (was only sorted out in the last squad thinning before the Azzurri’s European title last summer) first flicks a free kick wonderfully into the corner (7th minute / 20th Freiburg goal of the season after a standard situation – league top) and scores then with an absolute feat just before the break to make it 2-0.

43. Minute: Great cross from Höfler. Grifo takes the ball out of the air in the middle, volleys it down the run with his right hand and then – without touching the ground again – hits it unstoppable (43′). An absolute dream goal!

But even better than the goal: Streich’s celebration.

Shortly after the goal, TV broadcaster Sky shows slow motion how the Freiburg coach, who had extended his contract with his entire coaching team during the week, throws his fists and yells as if he had just won the Champions League with Freiburg. Splendid! It’s good that this face of the Bundesliga will stay with us for longer with the new contract.

And Wolfsburg? Doesn’t get a shot on goal at all in the first half and then suddenly comes back in the second half: Arnold releases Max Kruse and he stays ice cold in front of Freiburg keeper Flekken (52nd). Then Arnold hit the ball in the penalty area at supersonic speed to equalize (84′).

But in return, the game tilts again: Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck, who accidentally provided the assist to make it 2-2, intervenes in front, hits it with his left hand – and still scores for Freiburg’s late victory.

Freiburg sports director Jochen Saier after the game on Sky: “Schlotti’s response is spectacular. And it’s also good for the stadium that punk rocks here.”

And Wolfsburg’s Kruse on Schlotterbeck’s comeback goal: “We’ll ruin everything again with such a pig. Individual carelessness. Those are goals that we shouldn’t get and we’ve gotten them too often in the past few weeks.”
