In the Portuguese rally, the Liepaja crew will start with a car Škoda Fabia R4. It is a Rally2-Kit class car, with which the athletes made their debut in the rally “Sarma” at the beginning of the year. In the Portuguese rally, the people of Liepaja entered the RC 2 class, in the competition of 37 cars. Riders with both the most powerful Rally 2 or R5 group cars and Rally 2-Kit group cars are registered in this class. There are five Rally 2-Kit cars identical to the Seska / Frances crew. A total of 54 crews were registered for the competition. During the two days of the competition, the athletes will perform 17 stages with a total length of 198 kilometers.
Mārtiņš Sesks: “This time the preparations for the first stage of the ERC were completely different – how can we get involved and what can we do for the benefit of the Ukrainian people before leaving. The Russian invasion of Ukraine shocked us all, it is incomprehensible. Therefore, I admire and appreciate both my cooperation partners and many people in the Latvian motorsport community who are actively involved in organizing assistance. It is not easy to go to the competition either, because we will start the season without teammates from Ukraine. In this rally, we will fight not only for our result, but also for our teammates, who have to fight a real fight in Ukraine. ”

In the calendar of motor racing, the Portuguese rally will be followed by the ERC stage in Portugal “Rally Azores” (March 26-27).
