On May 17th, the second day of the FIBA 3×3 Basketball Olympic Qualification (OQT) tournament was held. The Japan women’s national team played two games and is currently in second place in Group C with one win and one loss.
Shizuka Takada, Tamami Nakata (both ENEOS Sunflowers), Kiho Miyashita (Toyota Motor Antelopes), and Mirai Takahashi (Denso Iris) were selected as members of the Japan women’s team.
In the first match, Japan faced off against the Egyptian national team. Takahashi started with three consecutive points, and Miyashita also scored with a drive. With four minutes remaining, Takahashi hit an outside shot, followed by Nakata and Takada, who scored to put Egypt ahead at 15-9. In the final stages of the game, they conceded a series of points inside, but in the end, Takahashi hit two points. They won 19-14.
In the second match, they played against a higher ranked Spanish national team. From the start, Takahashi continued to score at a good tempo, while Miyashita also put in long-range shots and played an even battle. However, with five and a half minutes remaining, Japan continued to concede points and commit fouls, and Spain began to lose the lead. Although Takada tried to counterattack with two points, they lost 12-21.
