Magnitogorsk – Omsk 4: 0, Hrubec ends. Omsk lost the decisive seventh match in the quarterfinals

Omsk dominated the opening two duels in the series among former KHL winners, but then lost to Metallurg three times in a row. He averted the first threat of elimination with a clear 5: 1 victory in the home asylum in Balashiš, but Magnitogorsk similarly reigned on his ice.

Hrubec capitulated for the first time in the third minute in Omsk’s weakening after Andrej Čibisov’s shot. Philippe Maillet beat him in the opening period and in the 23rd minute another Canadian Josh Currie increased it to 3: 0.

The last goal fell into an empty goal, scored by Grigory Dronov half a second before the end during the guests’ power play. Hrubec stopped 20 shots of Metallurg players, his counterpart Vasily Kosechkin needed 41 hits to catch zero.

Magnitogorsk will face Chelyabinsk for advancing to the finals, played by goalkeeper Roman Will and attackers Tomáš Hyka and Lukáš Sedlák. In the second semifinal series between CSKA Moscow and St. Petersburg, no Czechs will appear.
