Judoka Mathilda Niemeyer receives financial support

The fighter of the 1st JJJC Hattingen has taken a very positive development. This has not escaped the notice of the Sparkassen-Stiftung.

At just 15 years old, the Hattingerin became Mathilda Niemeyer was nominated for the junior squad of the German Judo Federation and started, among other things, at the European Judo Championships in the U18 age group in Riga, where she won a fight.

The Foundation for Education, Youth and Sport of Sparkasse Hattingen is supporting Mathilda Niemeyer on her way with a grant of 3000 euros. “The outstanding achievement and the associated notoriety beyond the borders of Hattingen is very noteworthy,” praises Ralf Vormberge from the foundation’s board of directors.

In order to be so successful, the now 16-year-old trains not only at her home club but also at the high-performance bases in Bottrop and Witten as well as at the national high-performance base in Cologne. This is mainly made possible by their parents, who drive them to the training locations or tournaments, which is associated with immense (petrol) costs.

The flagship athlete, who now has the 1st Dan, has long since become the sporting flagship of the 1st JJJC Hattingen. “She is a role model for other young judoka and passes her experience on to our youngsters in the club,” reports sponsor Angela Andree, deputy managing director of the 1st JJJC. She believes that she is capable of a very successful path: “Maybe even with a start at the Olympic Games.”
