REPORTAGE – The GameWard sports club has a weight room and a nutritionist for the well-being of its players. Much more than a fad in the competitive world of video games.

At the corner of a first corridor with white walls, a vast living room is planted. There is a sofa, a television screen, a chess board, a piano and even an American kitchen in dark tones. Lunch time is barely past when a chef is already getting down to preparing dinner. Welcome to GameWard, an Esport club based in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), where video games are not the only point of passage. Strolling through the 600m² complex, you quickly come across a weight room full of dumbbells, balls and gym mats. This is only the tip of the iceberg for which Clément Thillier, nutritionist at GameWard since 2019, is responsible. His mission: “improve performances» players through his knowledge of nutrition, physical preparation and neuro-cognition.
