50 points again: Superstar James is heading for second place

Basketball superstar LeBron James has given his struggling Los Angeles Lakers the next win and is on course for second place in the all-time points list in the North American professional league NBA.

The 37-year-old scored 50 points in the 122:109 against the Washington Wizards and hit 18 of his 25 shots from the field. Just under a week ago, James had scored 56 points against the Golden State Warriors and demonstrated his extra class.

Four-time NBA champion James is on course for the next entry in the history book of the best basketball league in the world: With his 50-point game against the Wizards, James moved significantly closer to Karl Malone, who has the second most points in league history (36,928 ) has achieved. James (36,793) is just 135 points behind Malone and could overtake the former star player in March. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is clearly in the lead with 38,387 points.

The Californians (29 wins, 37 defeats), currently tenth in the Western Conference, have to worry about making the playoffs.
