Yves Vanderhaeghe new trainer KV Oostende: “The pressing at Cercle was quite similar to ours” | Jupiler Pro League

Vanderhaeghe was already the head of the Kustboys between 2015 and 2017. With success: he led the club to the cup final and the first European campaign, before leaving for AA Gent. Now he returns to the old nest. “Yves knows the competition, the club and is a good trainer and people manager who can get the most out of players,” said Gauthier Ganaye, CEO of KVO. He signed a contract until the end of this season.

Ostend saw Alexander Blessin leave last month. The German opted for an adventure at FC Genoa, which paid the transfer fee of 2 million euros. Markus Pflanz, Blessin’s assistant, took over temporarily. He is now an assistant again. After a 4 out of 6, KV Oostende has moved up to 14th place, with 5 points more than the second-last number Seraing.

In our opinion, the results that Cercle Brugge are now achieving are the direct result of Vanderhaeghe’s good work.

“We followed Yves closely because we were very impressed with the way Cercle played under him,” Ganaye, currently recovering from a covid infection, said on the KVO website. “His teams are always very well structured and defensively organized, but also have freedom in the offensive. In his most recent experience at Cercle, their pressing was quite similar to ours. In our opinion, the results they are now achieving are the direct result of his good work. During a conversation of several hours I was convinced that he is the right man to take over now. I was really impressed with how well he could assess our players and their qualities.”

The trainers waltz of the 2021-2022 season in our competition:

Assistants Davy De fauw and Timmy Simons take over.
