A few kicks later, the most painful of all followed. With a blue ankle she stayed aside. Yesterday she left with the Flames for San Pedro del Pinatar.
The Flames are the highest ranked team in the Pinatar Cup. Competitors for profit are Scotland, Russia and Poland. Serneels chose the tournament in Pinatar in view of the upcoming World Cup matches in Albania and Kosovo. It’s a matter of mainly playing against teams that crawl under the ball.
Is it possible to disrupt a reinforced defense without Wullaert? The captain of the Flames barely misses minutes, neither from Anderlecht, nor from the national eleven. Her last missed international match was in Spain in June last year when half of Anderlecht had to stay at home with a Covid infection.
So it now looks like it will be without Wullaert against Slovakia, 24 places lower in the world ranking. The match, Wednesday at 20:30 in the Pinatar Arena, can be viewed via the RBFA app. The next matches are on Saturday 19 and Tuesday 22 February.
