Kruzberg overcame his qualifier and advanced to the semifinals in the quarterfinals yesterday with an excellent final lap from fifth to third place, leaving out Hungary’s Shaolin Liu. In it, the Ventspils resident finished last in his skating, as well as later in the B final, but he finished ninth. So far, the best result for Latvian short track runners was tenth place for Harald Silov (1500 meters in 2010) and Robert Zvejnieks (2018 – 500 meters).

Yesterday, for the first time during the Olympics, it snowed in Beijing. Mountain skier Miks Zvejnieks took 26th place in his Olympic debut in giant slalom, repeating the best result of his brother Kristaps, a three-time participant in the Olympic Games. 46 out of 89 athletes reached the finish line.
