“During the international tournament, we receive young people from West Flanders, but also from abroad. During previous editions we saw Dutch and French people, but it remains to be seen how the turnout will be after a year’s break. The tournament takes place every year in a different municipality and this year in Gits. We are really looking forward to starting again after a sabbatical year due to corona”, head coach Patrick Delarue of the WVBF begins.Winning three titlesIn a Silver tournament, in addition to singles and doubles, mixed doubles are also played, which makes a good player can win three titles. “I even think we can win a title with the girls and boys in the U13. Anyone who wants to encourage our players is welcome from 9 a.m. in sports hall Ogierlande in Gits”, Patrick continues. “Unfortunately, we notice a decrease in member numbers at all West Flemish clubs. Corona ensured that fewer and fewer people find their way to the badminton club, despite our good guidance and professional support. Of course we think that’s a shame. In addition, tournaments are also difficult to get off the ground. It seems as if people are still a bit hesitant.” “So we hope to breathe new life into the badminton sport with this tournament. Everyone is welcome to support or get acquainted with the sport,” said the WVBF.(EV)
