Unzué, at the Asturian Press Club: “I don’t feel sick, I feel Juan Carlos Unzué”

Juan Carlos Unzué presented this afternoon at the Asturian Press Club of LA NUEVA ESPAÑA his book “A full life” in which he reviews his life and his struggle with ALS. Unzué, accompanied on the podium by Marcos López, in an act presented by the journalist Carmen Menéndez. “I don’t feel sick, I feel Juan Carlos Unzué”, explained the protagonist in an act that filled the room and radiated optimism.

The exporter from Oviedo also brought out his most vindictive vein with ALS patients: “As a society we cannot allow a colleague with a disease to decide to end his life because he feels a burden.” Unzué also acknowledged his “disappointment” with politicians, from whom he expects a response to his claims about the disease.

Many athletes attended the event. Former Oviedo players (Oli, Vicente González-Villamil, Santi García-Barrero, Bango, Amieva, Jaime…), Sporting (Ablanedo, Eraña and Monchu), in addition to the official representation of Oviedo, with Manolo Paredes, vice president, Rubén Reyes , sports director, and Cuco Ziganda, coach, who took part in the talk. “At first you said you’re fine. How do you do it?”. “Well, I don’t know, Cuco”, answered Unzué, “I feel the same as before the diagnosis. The key is to accept. And I have accepted ALS”.
