The Mexico Open launches a call for its qualifying tournament

The Mexico Open at Vidanta, a tournament that will be played for the first time on the PGA Tour, invites professional players and amateurs from Latin America to participate in its next Qualifying tournament, which will take place on Tuesday, February 22, at the golf course. Golf Estrella del Mar, in Mazatlan, Sinaloa

The qualifying champion will be granted a waiver to compete in the Mexico Open at Vidanta to be held April 28-May 1 at the Vidanta Vallarta golf course.

“We are very excited to grant a second exemption to a Latin American player, thanks to this qualifier,”

said Rodrigo Suárez Gilly, director of the Mexico Open at Vidanta. “We want to take advantage of the fact that many players will already be

playing the previous weekend at the Estrella del Mar Open, an event on the PGA Tour Latin America, and thus be able to offer

another opportunity for these great players”, he added.

The field will be limited to 144 Latin American players, and their participation is subject to three ways: 1) that they are members

from any professional tour that awards points by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR); 2) that are within

the top 30 players in the “Professional Tour” ranking, and 3) who are among the top three thousand players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

The tournament will be played under the stroke play format, with 18 holes, and will qualify the Mexico Open at Vidanta, the golfer with the highest score

lower. In the event of a tie, it will be resolved hole by hole. The registration process is through the official page:

www.mexicoopen.mx, and the registration deadline is next Thursday, February 17, 2022.
