A bitter sixth place. Dorothea Wierer thus concluded his test in the biathlon pursuit at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. On the snows of Zhangjiakou from South Tyrol, bronze in the sprint, he was vying for a replica on the podium and until the last polygon his chances were to hit a silver or a bronze, considering that the Norwegian Mars Olsbu Røiseland was too far away.
The standing shooting series did not smile at “Doro” and the three overall errors (two in the third and one in the fourth polygon) have sunk the ambitions of our standard bearer. The conditions were certainly complicated: cold, snow and wind were travel companions for the athletes.
However, the context was the same for all and the blue could do better in shooting, a fundamental component now more than ever. Unfortunately, Wierer’s speed on skis is not up to par and the 25th overall time in the fund is a clear figure. Therefore, to aspire to the top-3, perfection is necessary, as happened in the sprint, or at most a mistake.

Dorothea will try again in the mass starthoping to regain confidence in shooting to make a difference and compensate for the shortcomings on skis, a litmus test for a bit throughout Dorothea’s season.
