Ligue 2: AC Ajaccio president suspended for 8 months from official duties

Christian Leca had accused the president of the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP of being “in xenophobia”. As a result, the president of AC Ajaccio, the current third in Ligue 2, was suspended on Friday from all official duties for eight months, according to information revealed by RMC Sport. The said commission justified this decision as follows: three months for insulting remarks by leaders against officials outside the match, a penalty doubled to six months because the remarks were made by a club president with an obligation to set an example. To this, the commission considered it aggravating the fact that the Corsican club has still not withdrawn the press release in question.

Predictably, the disciplinary committee did not give a gift to one of the former members of the LFP and president of the Ligue 2 club colleague. Following this case, the Corsican president had, moreover. , decided to resign from the LFP following the advice of his lawyer.

It all starts at the end of the match of the 19th day of Ligue 2 between AC Ajaccio and Grenoble (1-0 victory) on December 21, 2021. The Grenoble players end the match at 10 after the expulsion of Perez in additional time. In mid-January, the disciplinary committee imposed a two-game suspension (including one firm) on the Corsican defender, Oumar Gonzalez, for simulation after a fight. In the process, she cancels the red card to Perez. It’s too much for Leca and his club who immediately publish a press release on social networks.

It is this press release which is worth today to the Corsican president to be suspended. In the text, the ACA had notably written: “The note is salty, especially since the opposing player involved, he saw his red card withdrawn. From there to think that Mr. Deneu (Sébastien Deneux, the president of the disciplinary committee, Editor’s note) and his team are xenophobic, there is only one step that we do not hesitate to take.

The LFP was quick to react by threatening to file a complaint: “These statements are unworthy of your duties. We therefore reserve the right to take any legal action to defend the LFP as well as its elected, volunteer or salaried members”.

Asked by RMC Sport, Christian Leca kept his line of defense, with one detail: “I do not come out of this case unscathed, but I agree with my principles. I can’t stand injustice and bias. I admit that I should not have spoken of xenophobia but of corsophobia…”
