Commentary on the BVB embarrassment: The great days of Hummels and Reus are over – Bundesliga

FC St. Pauli, Sporting Lisbon, Glasgow Rangers – these clubs represent a historic co-failure for BVB.

Out in the DFB Cup, out in the Champions League, out in the Europa League against three teams that together have less market value than BVB.

In Dortmund they should accept three painful truths as soon as possible and draw their conclusions from them.

1. Terzic would be the best man for the coaching job!

There have been six coaches since Klopp’s departure in 2015: Tuchel, Bosz, Stöger, Favre, Terzic and now Rose.

The bosses have been creating sensational player transfers for years, but do not deliver in the coaching position. With the only two coaches who were able to win the DFB Cup, the collaboration ended for various reasons immediately after the triumph.

Tuchel had to go in 2017, Terzic switched to the post of technical director in 2021.

Unfortunately, Rose failed with the knockout triple despite a good Bundesliga season. The through and through Borussia Terzic would be the best man for the coaching job. Surprising, if chief adviser Sammer should see it differently.

2. The heyday of Hummels and Reus is over!

Two players with great merits for German football. But in the present no longer able to bring top level in every game. Ideally, BVB wins both to support the upheaval with their experience – but without a regular place guarantee. It’s a good thing that the new Reus is already approaching with Salzburg’s Adeyemi. And with Süle, the new Hummels has already been determined.

3. Haaland will go!

The embarrassing way in which very good title chances were squandered in the DFB Cup and Europa League should have made the Norwegian finally realize that he no longer had any business here. If he wants to become the best in the world, he has to take the next step in the summer. Hopefully Bellingham doesn’t come to this conclusion too…

BVB is facing trend-setting months. Now it depends on the bosses Watzke, Zorc and Kehl.
