Bronze by Paissoni at the European Open 2022 in Warsaw

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 February 2022 there was the European Open in Warsaw where Italy competed with 19 athletes.
The lighter categories competed on Saturday: the men’s -60; -66 and -73 kg, while the female ones -48; -52; -57 and -63 kg.
Sunday was the day of the heaviest categories: the men’s -81; -90; -100 and +100 kg, while the female ones -70; -78 and +78 kg.

Italy participated with: Alessia Tedeschi (-52 kg), Anita Cantini and Chiara Zuccaro (-57 kg), Flavia Favorini, Chiara Cacchione and Carola Paissoni (-63 kg), Cecilia Betemps (-70 kg), Carolina Mengucci and Melora Rosetta (-78 kg), Erica Simonetti and Tiziana Marini (+78 kg), Simone Aversa (-60 kg), Francesco Cargnelutti (-66 kg), Luca Rubeca and Edoardo Mella (-73 kg), Davide Nuzzo ( -81 kg), Michele Valeri and Ermes Tosolini (-90 kg), Davide Pozzi (-100 kg).

Results

Italy has conquered a bronze medal with Carola Paissoni (-63kg), two fifth places with Chiara Zuccaro (-57 kg) e Erica Simonetti (+78 kg) e two seventh places with Carolina Mengucci (-78kg) e Davide Pozzi (-100 kg).

Carola Paissoni (-63kg) won the first match with hostess Agata Palka (Pol), in the second round with Selina Delen (Ger) but had to yield in the quarter-finals to Sarai Padilla Guerrero (Esp), silver medal at the end of the day, while in the repechage he won with Nadiah Krachten (Ned) e Laura Vazquez Fernandez (Esp), thus winning an important bronze medal.

Chiara Zuccaro (-57 kg) she won in the first round with Tomi Imrie (Gbr), in the second round with Christianne Legentil (Mri), in the quarter-finals with Anastasija Sokirjanska (Lat), while in the semifinal she lost with the winner of the category Pauline Starke (Ger) and in the final for the bronze gave to Tihea Topolovec (Cro), having to settle for fifth place.

Erica Simonetti (+78 kg) he passed the first round and in the second he won with Sarah Adlington (Gbr), in the quarter-finals he lost with Sebile Akbulut (Tur), while in the repechage he won with Nisrin Bousbaa Dab (Esp) but in the final for the bronze he lost with Mahiro Hashiguchi (Jpn), thus placing himself in fifth place, at the foot of the podium.

Carolina Mengucci (-78kg) she passed the first round and in the second she won with Paulina Muszynska (Pol), in the quarter-finals she also lost with Lucia Perez Gomez (Esp), as the national teammate Melora, and in the repechage she lost with Marie Fernandez (Fra ).

Davide Pozzi (-100 kg) he won the first round with Otto Imala (East), then in the second round corresponding to the quarter-finals he lost to Piotr Kuczera (Pol) and in the repechage he lost to Joris Agbegnenou (Fra), thus finishing in seventh place.
They lost in the third round: Simone Aversa (-60 kg) and Edoardo Mella (-73 kg).

Simone Aversa (-60 kg) he passed the first round, he won in the second with Bartlomiej Kot (Pol) while in the third he lost with Rovshan Aliyev (Aze), who won the bronze medal.

Edoardo Mella (-73 kg) he won with Zamaddin Poladov (Aze) and Konrad Szatkowski (Pol), while he lost the third round to Adam Stodolski (Pol), then classified in third place.

They lost in the second round: Anita Cantini (-57 kg), Chiara Cacchione and Favorini Flavia (-63 kg), Cecilia Betemps (-70 kg), Melora Rosetta (-78 kg), Tiziana Marini (+78 kg), Davide Nuzzo (-81 kg) and Michele Valeri (-90 kg).

Anita Cantini (-57 kg) she won the first round with Julia Sommer (Aut) but then she lost with Carla Ubasart Mascaro (Esp), then silver medal.

Chiara Cacchione (-63 kg) he won the first round with Ligita Navarauskaite (Ltu) but then lost with Aleksandra Sokolowska (Pol).

Favorini Flavia (-63 kg) he won in the first round with Agata Szafran (Pol) while he then sold to Ayten Yersan (Tur), then bronze medal.

Cecilia Betemps (-70 kg) he won in the first round with Maria Baczek (Pol) but lost in the second round with Minel Akdeniz (Tur).

Melora Rosetta (-78 kg) she passed the first round while in the second match she lost to Lucia Perez Gomez (Esp).

Tiziana Marini (+78 kg) he passed the first round and lost in the second to Stessie Bastareaud (Fra).

Davide Nuzzo (-81 kg) he won the first round with Kyrylo Weselowski (Pol) but then lost with Etienne Briand (Can).

Michele Valeri (-90 kg) he passed the first round while in the second he lost to Johannes Pacher (Aut).
