With a view to a preparation course for Euro 2024, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti called a pre-list of 30 players at the national technical center in Coverciano, near Florence. Neither the former Parisian Marco Verratti (31 years old) nor the Lazio striker Ciro Immobile (34 years old) were selected.
The first, 55 caps and never called up by Spalletti since taking office, pays for his poor form and his exile in Qatar, in the Al-Arabi club. The second is coming out of a season marked by injuries and a certain irregularity. The two men were pillars of the Nazionale, winner of the last Euro in 2021.
Luciano Spalletti will make his final list (maximum 26 names) public on June 6, four days before leaving for Germany where Italy will face Albania, Spain and Croatia in Group B.
