Liz Mills.

For the first time in the history of national basketball, a woman will take charge of a men’s team in the excellence division. Indeed, AS Salé has hired Australian Liz Mills as coach of the men’s team with the mission of leading the team during the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

A native of Sydney, Mills was the first woman in basketball history to coach a national team, in this case, Kenya. The Australian coach had then made an excellent run with the Kenyans by raising them to the last four of the African championship for the first in 28 years.

Mills will lead the team during the BAL, the first phase of which is played from March 5 to 15 in Senegal. The Australian’s primary mission will be to get past the first round and go as far as possible in the competition.
