The Premier League is one of the most famous leagues in the world, if not number 1. Hundreds of millions of pounds are invested every year, to keep getting the best league possible. If the players are often the first beneficiaries, we must not forget the brains that make them play on the field. The British media The Sun made a ranking of the highest paid technicians in the Premier League this season 2021-2022.
Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp, Antonio Conte and then the others
In this list, there is a top three that clearly stands out from the others. At the very top, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola sits enthroned, with his 19 million pounds sterling per year (22.7 M€). He is the only one to exceed the 20 million euro mark. Behind him comes Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp, with 16 million pounds (19.1 M€). The podium is completed by Antonio Conte, the Spurs manager who receives approximately €17.9 million annually. Behind them, Leicester City technician Brendan Rodgers earns just over half of the former Bayern and Barça emoluments.
An average salary of €8m for Premier League coaches
The coaches of Norwich and Brentford are the lowest paid technicians in the English championship, with an annual salary of 1.8 million euros each. In total, more than 160 million euros will be paid out this season by the clubs, an average of 8.1 million euros per head. This is an amount very close to what Thomas Tuchel receives, on the Blues bench. The latter receives the equivalent of 8.4 million euros per year, less than seven of his peers, despite having won the Champions League last season.
