The new tennis world ranking was published on Monday. At the start of the new year, Jannik Sinner slipped out of the top ten.

The reason for this is the excellent performance by Felix Auger-Aliassime in the past week. The 21-year-old won the ATP Cup in Sydney with Canada. Together with his compatriot Denis Shapovalov, he finished Spain 2-0 in the final. Auger-Aliassime moved up from 11th to 9th place in the world rankings.
Sinner thus lost its top ten place for the first time since November 1, 2021. At that time, the 20-year-old was 9th in the world rankings after his semi-final entry at the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna and thus advanced into new spheres. Now Sinner has to give up his place in this select group for a short time.
On Monday, he will probably get back to 10th place because the Pole Hubert Hurkacz cannot defend his ATP points from last year this week. At the latest at the Australian Open, which begins next week, the cards will be reshuffled anyway. So the race for the top ten remains close.
9 Azzurri in den Top-100
Andreas Seppi, on the other hand, made the jump back into the top 100. The 37-year-old from Kalter made up 4 places and is now 98th. A total of 9 tennis players from Italy are among the top 100 in the world. In the women’s category, the Australian Ashleigh Barty is still enthroned with exactly 1,700 points ahead of Aryna Sabalenka.
