This Saturday started the year 2022, with all the hopes that are still possible. So we took a look at the 10 things we can wish for Paris Saint-Germain on and off the pitch.
10 – No rumor of Marquinhos, Verratti or Neymar leaving for FC Barcelona.
This is not the most essential thing, but it would still be nice to have a summer without the Catalan press igniting around a “possible” transfer of an important player, often one of the 3 cities, towards FC Barcelona. It’s always long, riddled with random rumors and misunderstanding for PSG or Ligue 1. We would do well a year without.
9 – Icardi again a great scorer.
Some have forgotten it because of a little complicated months at PSG, but Icardi used to chain goals for several years of his career. It would be a great thing to see him regain confidence and efficiency, which can come through more effort and better use, to help PSG. This is to continue in Paris and or there is a good sale.
8 – Sergio Ramos finally connects the matches.
There were doubts surrounding the 35-year-old center-back as he failed to kick off his season. But he was finally able to play a little bit without another injury. With what he brought in aggression and a quick build to play higher, it would be nice if the Spaniard could follow up.
7 – Kimpembe who finds his best level or has a competition.
The fact that Sergio Ramos can play would help to have this competition and it is undoubtedly necessary for a Kimpembe who was a little too lost in the beginning of the season. This without ever losing his place while Abdou Diallo (25) was only allowed to play in the axis when the Parisian Titi was unavailable. Even if we appreciate his mentality, we must clearly do the best or “dare” to play other players.
6 – See unwanted people finally leave, like Kurzawa.
For several years, PSG has had difficulty selling and it has become particularly difficult. Especially when we see a player like Layvin Kurzawa (29-year-old left-back) remain in the workforce when the staff clearly no longer count on him. Hopefully Paris will finally succeed in downsizing its workforce.
5 – Have less than 5 absent per game.
It might not be a very ambitious wish, but it would actually be quite special for a PSG who often have at least 5 absent per game for more than a year. This necessarily weighs on performance. To have more consistency and good play, that would be a first step.
4 – Verratti and Neymar finally spared from injuries.
Whether there are fewer injuries or not, it would be good if Marco Verratti and Neymar (29-year-old midfielder and striker) were present more often. Their qualities mean that they are supposed to be pillars of the team, so they should be able to go through matches being at 100%. Even if there are others absent, it would be enormous more to have these 2 players on the field. And it would be even better with an almost empty infirmary.
3 – Mbappé who extends his contract.
Even if it was to leave then, it would be better for Kylian Mbappé (29-year-old striker) to extend so as not to leave for free. Which seems very unlikely. Otherwise, he could stay a little longer at PSG than until June 2022. He is annoying at times, but remains one of the best strikers around and has great years ahead of him.
2 – The return of the beautiful game.
Mbappé who prolongs or not, the PSG must find solutions to offer again an interesting game regularly. Which is doable without the French international. And should be relatively normal with the means of PSG. The matches have been disappointing for too long and we have waited for the improvement that should logically happen. Hopefully it will be for this year. And rather soon.
1 – Win the Champions League.
It has been the big dream for several years and it remains very tempting. Even if it had to be with irregular play. We would still prefer a success achieved in a very nice way. Either way, convincing quality of play will help to prevail. It would also make history.
